What is it?

A wool blend oversized cocoon coat with yellow, red, blue, and green patches. The tag is missing but I have seen its twins dated as 80s or early 90s, and I think the dolman/batwing sleeves confirm that. It definitely has a Memphis design aesthetic with the use of primary colors and geometric shapes.

Where did you unearth this fantastic gem?

A Mexican reselling platform similar to Poshmark and Depop. I got it for about 30 dollars and it's in excellent condition. I have seen similar listings on Etsy or vintage stores for up to 400 dollars, so I got pretty lucky.

What a cool, grid-tastic piece! Very Bauhaus. I am always a fan of bold prints and this has a nice balance of neutral colors. Thanks for sharing Iris! And thanks for the reminder that reselling platforms are a great way to shop secondhand remotely, and to find some cool and unique pieces. It helps to know what you are looking for when browsing through vast amounts of vintage online, so we recommend having keywords handy or a particular item/decade/style in mind when searching. Search engines like GEM, which are uniquely designed to pluck vintage from all sorts of websites and platforms are handy. Best of luck, and let us know if y’all find anything else amazing on the internet or IRL!
