Matchy-Matchy at the Market

This cool monochromatic look says yes to green, no to greenwashing

How did you acquire this outfit? I found each of these pieces from local small businesses, or secondhand; Donald J Pliner shoes are from @cornerness (hey Courtney!) the button down, baseball cap, disco necklace, and blazer are from the thrift store, mask is from @holly_simple, cropped sweater is from @ruhling____, and I have had these @rachelcomey pants for a few years. The accessories (safety pin chain) are from my all time favorite @shop_journal, a heavenly boutique! Also sporting a “Proud Outfit Repeater” pin on my lapel.

Why is this your favorite go-to outfit? I love wearing monochromatic looks; it’s such a power move. I felt like I was channeling @greenladyofbrooklyn that day! (She’s a total icon and local legend, please look her up.) I always gravitate towards breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Hats are key to prevent scalp burn and offer protection from the rain or anything else the unpredictable weather patterns of Pittsburgh may bring. I had originally planned to share a different outfit, but cold temperatures made me change my mind. Overall, my personal style is about comfort, color, shape, and texture.

Any other comments? Don’t be afraid to wear color or bold prints! I’ve let gorgeous garments hang out in my closet too long without being worn, even before the pandemic. Life is a special occasion; wear what makes you happy :)

This photo was taken at the Bloomfield Farmers Market, where I was hanging with Rebecca Harrison of @OldFlameMending. Come through if you are ever in the area on a summer Saturday!

Thank you Meg for such an exciting interpretation of monochrome! This is a fantastic and cohesive look that definitely stands out. Your outfit reminds us that comfort, practicality, and style are not mutually exclusive. Life is a party ― or a carnival, as The Queen of Salsa used to sing ― so let's live it to its fullest!
